Perry Harrell, AIA, ACHA, RID

Perry Harrell, AIA, ACHA, RID, is the Principal-in-Charge leading Ziegler Cooper Architects' Health & Wellness Studio.

Perry holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture Studies and a Bachelor of Architecture from Louisiana Tech University. He is a licensed architect in Texas and Florida and a Registered Interior Designer in Texas. Perry is a member of the American Institute of Architects and a Certified Healthcare Architect with the American College of Healthcare Architects.

With a career spanning decades in healthcare design, Perry specializes in complex clinical environments, including hospitals, surgery centers, medical office buildings, clinics, imaging centers, cancer treatment facilities, laboratories, dental suites, and veterinary facilities. His expertise extends to medical equipment planning and highly technical facility renovations and additions.

Perry began his healthcare-focused career as a staff architect for Hermann Hospital, following early experience with a large Houston-based national firm. He further developed his specialization at a mid-sized healthcare architecture firm, where he completed his first projects with Houston Methodist Hospital. In 1993, he founded Harrell Architects, establishing a practice that has maintained a long-standing relationship with Houston Methodist Hospital through numerous hospital and medical office building projects across its system.

His project experience is rooted in renovations and additions across the Texas Medical Center, suburban Houston hospitals, and rural southeast Texas facilities. His work spans surgical suites, NICU and ICU units, emergency departments, laboratories, pharmacies, imaging departments, cath labs, linear accelerator facilities, rehabilitation spaces, food service, administrative areas, and patient support environments.

Perry's design work has been recognized with honors including an ASID/Houston Chronicle interior design award for an orthodontic office in Katy, Texas, and a National AIA Healthcare Design Honor Award for a three-story plastic surgery center in Houston.
