Sacred Heart Catholic Church
The Parish of the Sacred Heart in Texarkana, Texas has been blessed with a wonderful modernist sanctuary building designed by Reinheimer and Cox in 1960. The proposed work adds a new Narthex, a Day Chapel, a Cry Room, completely renovates the Sanctuary area including repositioning the tabernacle, moving the font and redesigning the reredos, expands the choir space and provides for code upgrades to deal with accessibility and safety. The design itself has been scaled, crafted and detailed to be very mindful of the character, material use and detailing of the original church. While addressing the programmatic needs of the parish it also will add a high degree of visibility to the surrounding community.
